(March 8, 1947 - January 9, 2024)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roman in his 77th year on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Sault Area Hospital with his close family by his side.

Roman was born in Germany to the late Pranas (Frank) and Anna Bruzas. Son-in-law of the late Grant and Ethel Bowerman. Beloved husband and best friend of Betty-Jean for 56 years. Cherished father to Nancy Hayes-Sheen (Tom), Kristine and Reuban (Emily). Loving Papa to Hayleigh, Parker (Lucy), Lyrica, & Lillian. Beloved brother of the late Beatrice Patrick, the late Harold (Judy), Victor (Anne Jean), Frank (Joy), Peter (Marilyn), John (Lola), and Sylvia Meincke (Otto). Brother-in-law of Clifford Bowerman (late Hollis), Frank Bowerman (Evelyn), late Blake Bowerman (Maria), Randy Bowerman (Ann), late Mark Bowerman, Mervyn Bowerman(Sarah), Murray Bowerman, & Edith Bowerman-Pepper (Richard). He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Roman leaves behind his loving pet Princess.

Before Roman and Betty opened R&B Lottery Shop in 1999, where he enjoyed chatting with all his customers, he worked as a custodian for Algoma Central Properties as well as driving truck and working on the train. He also worked for Trans-Provincial, Silverwoods Dairy, and Fuel delivery driver. He also worked some jobs on the side, including Mother’s Pizza and the Legion. He was a big supporter of many local fundraisers and charities in the community, including youth bowling, Royal Canadian Legion branch 25 and Alzheimer society.

Throughout the Christmas seasons of the 80’s and 90’s you would find Roman playing Santa at the Station Mall and other private functions. He sold many winning tickets over the years. In his earlier day he was very passionate about his gardens and flowers. He took pride in his yard. Family was everything to him and he was extremely proud of each and every one of them.

Thanks goes to all the nurses and doctors at SAH who played a part in his recovery and stay since the end of September.

A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me.”
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine
through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls. I
miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.Until the day comes we’re together again. —Author Unknown
