Passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the F. J. Davey Home at the age of 95. Born to Edward Cockwell and Georgina May Lowen-Cockwell in Cornwall, Ontario on March 16th, 1927. Gwen grew up in Ottawa and was the treasured and much loved daughter of Edward and Marguerite (Irvine) Cockwell. Cherished wife of the late Allan and beloved Mum to David (Gloria) and Kathy. Loving Grandmother to Jayson and Adam and honorary Grandma to Jeremy. Dear sister of Irvine (Shirley) Cockwell.

Predeceased by her sister in laws and their husbands Mildred (Floyd), Ramona (Russell), Thelma (Bob), Edith (James) and Effie (David). Gwen will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Gwen was considered an "adopted" Mom to many and a dear friend to many more.

Gwen graduated from teachers college in Ottawa and started her teaching career in a small community west of Ottawa (Plevna, ON). It was there that she met her husband to be, Allan. In the years to come Gwen joined her husband in the family insurance business as a bookkeeper and financial executive.

Gwen loved time in the garden, singing in choirs, jigsaw puzzles, and in her retirement years she took up folk art painting, but her passion was reading and teaching. She always had a book close by and spent hours reading. She loved studying and teaching the Bible. It was her faith that carried her throughout her life. Diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's nearly 8 years ago she trusted the Lord to carry her through. She lived a life of kindness, love and compassion to all who knew her.

Gwen was a faithful attendant of the Bancroft Bible Chapel and Faith Baptist Church in Echo Bay. A Memorial Service will be held at the Faith Baptist Church in Echo Bay on Monday, July 4, 2022 at 2:00pm. Pastor TJ Telfer officiating. Interment at Boulter Gospel Hall Cemetery later this summer.

Memorial contributions (payable by cheque) to Share World Global (Gideon's) or to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund or the Memorial Fund would be appreciated. The Bronsons would like to thank the staff from 3 Cedar at the F. J. Davey Home for their compassion and care of Mum. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Bronson family.
