It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Brochu Sr. (aka Bam Bam, Big Dan, Papere, Pepper). Late in the day on October 12, 2023, he left this world to join his beloved Karolee on the other side, just 17 short months after her passing.

Cherished son of Arthur Brochu (Marion Koprash) and the late Agatha Brochu (nee Prevost).

A loving father to Mary-Ann Brochu, Daniel Brochu Jr, and Patrick Brochu (Kristen) who will miss him forever; as well as a bonus Dad to Danny Langille, Jessica Gair (Chris) and Emily Gair. Papere or Pepper to: Jenna (Robby), Isabella, Mya, Nicholas, Alyvia, Shyla, Ava, Jack and Benny.

Dan was the eldest of three brothers. He leaves behind some devastated little brothers; Gilles Brochu (Lisa) and Ronnie Brochu.  He was an uncle to Jason, Chris and Crystal Brochu.

Dan was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, probably with a wrench in hand. He loved nothing more than tinkering in the ‘shop’ with his boys, and having morning coffee with the crew was one of his daily joys.  He spent most of his time repairing and burning the gas in any piece of machinery that would run, and we loved him for that.

He was a proud mason by trade but was a refractory engineer at heart. He was fortunate to have travelled the world, working on jobs that were not for the faint of heart. He did this with great pride alongside his dear partners in crime; Floris Van Laar and Bob Hansen.

Special friend to; Eddy and Mary-Lou Kelly, Keith and Carol Whitfield, Pat and Cheryl Mitzi, Arlene Heins, Mary Hummel, Janice and Jerry Wolchuk, Heather Dolan, Diesel Dave, the ISM crew, the boys at the coffee shop, and so many countless more.

As per Dan’s wishes, no formal service will be held. The family will announce details of a celebration of life at a later date.
