Gerald Torry Bourn, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the age 89. Beloved husband of Edna May (Robinson) Bourn for 67 years. Father of Brian (Elaine [Nortcliff ] ) of Doncaster, England and Stuart (Deborah [Vesala]) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Grandfather of Philip and Great-Grandfather of Ellie and Lucie of Rotherham, England. Gerald was born in Sheffield, England on December 10, 1919 and emigrated to Canada at the age of 70 in 1989. Attended Caterknowle Council School in Sheffield, England. Gerald served with the British Army in Britain and Europe and landed on Normandy Beach during the D-Day Invasion of June 1944. Last surviving founding member and Past Chairman of the British Fellowship of the Services (218 Mess) and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Ardent fan and supporter of the Sheffield United Football (Soccer) Club. A heartfelt thank you is extended to all those who assisted and supported Gerald and his family throughout his long illness.
