Passed away suddenly with her daughters by her side at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, her 74th Birthday.  Spouse and great friend of Walter Borowicz.  Daughter of the late Peter and Anna Krupka.  Cherished mother of Melanie (Derek) Sibenik and Christine (Marty) Perlini.  Loving Baba to Meagan (Alex) and Hannah (Ashton) Perlini and Jessica and Luke Sibenik.   Loving sister-in-law of Helen (the late Tom).  Dear Aunt to Sheila (Don) Marini and Michael O’Flynn.  Loving cousin to Emil (Gloria) Krupka, Ed (June) Krupka, Irene (Rob) Talosi and their families and many cousins in the Ukraine.  Loving Godmother to Christopher (Lori) Czop and Mark Spadoni.  Life long friends and family to Orest (Marianka) and family.

Mary was born in France and immigrated to Canada at the young age of 2 years old.  Mary devoted her life to her family, friends, the church and the community.  She served as PTA President and was an active volunteer at St. Bernadette School for many years.  She served as a Trustee with the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board.  She was the first woman City Councillor in Sault Ste. Marie and served the constituents of Ward 3 from 1992-2000.  In 2014, she was honoured by the Business and Professional Women’s Club for her contributions to the community.  She also received recognition for her outstanding 15 years of service at Algoma Central Corporation.  She was dedicated to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, serving on the Women’s League and Council, and she worked and assisted in organizing many events, Tea & Bazaars, Festivals and special Anniversary Celebrations.

Mary taught us love, respect and the importance of having strong values.  Most of all, she showed us the meaning of a Mother’s love. She is a true inspiration to us and a wonderful role model.  Mom, Baba and dear friend, we will miss you more than words can say.

Friends may visit at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church at 293 St George’s Avenue on Saturday November 28th, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:30 am. (maximum 60 people allowed to enter the church at a time, masks and social distancing are required). Private Funeral Mass to follow with Father Jerry Lazoryk officiating.  Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Our sincere thanks are extended to Dr. Hill and his team, Dr. Lane, Dr. Baath, Julie, doctors and nurses at the SAH and Ambulatory Staff for all their help, patience and compassion.  Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522).  Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.
