Siebren Hart (Bernie) Boersma, at the age of 90, graduated to heaven on Tuesday April 6, 2021 at Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell, ON. Born in Dokkum, Friesland, Netherlands on July 18, 1930, the second youngest of 16 children, Bernie had many stories to tell of life growing up during the Natzi occupation of his native nation during World War II. Immigrating to Canada in 1953, Bernie worked in the logging industry of British Columbia, farmed throughout Ontario and was a real estate agent in Sarnia, Ontario before moving to the Stratford area in 1970. He became established as both a successful dairy farmer and real estate broker. Married to his beloved wife Jean (Bastiaantje Corvers) for 65 years, Jean and Bernie have seven children, Linda Brauner (Eric) of Sault Ste. Marie, Maria Walsh of Stratford, Heidi Smith (Gary) of Holland, Michigan, Hart Boersma (JoAnn) of Mitchell, Siebren Boersma (Angela) of Ayton, Patricia Bootsma (John) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Joel Boersma (Alix) of Stratford. They also have 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Bernie is survived by one sister, Wiekske of Sarnia.
A family service was held the Christian Reformed Church of Stratford followed by interment at Avondale Cemetery.
