It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Bernardo, on Saturday, March 28, 2020, days shy of his 77th birthday. Beloved husband and soulmate of the late Franca Bernardo. Loving and devoted Father of Anthony and the late Robert. Treasured Nonno of Evangeline. Francesco was the cherished son of the late Pasquale and Rosina (nee Rino) Bernardo. Dear brother of the late Giovanni Bernardo (Erbina), Maria Coccimiglio (late Gino), Elena Mercuri, Carmella Storti (late Rino), Joseph Bernardo (Lisa) and Emma Ferraro (Michael). Son-in-law of the late Antonio and Carmela (nee Iacoe) Giunti, Brother-in-law of Jenny Gaudenzi (Danny) and Anne Gencarelli (John). Dear nephew of the late Salvatore Bernardo (Antonia). Frank will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, extended family and friends. Frank had a genuine and loving quality about him. He was a true, self taught “Jack of all Trades”, and was always willing to share his skills and lend a hand. To his family, he will be remembered as unconditionally devoted, supportive, loving and wise. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no services at this time. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. A sincere thank-you to the many caregivers and staff in the SAH ICU who worked tirelessly to ease Frank's afflictions. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital, would be much appreciated as our front-line caregivers, will need our support in this time of crisis. To My Father
A giant pine, magnificent and old
Stood staunch against the sky and all around
Shed beauty, grace and power
Within its folds, birds safely reared their young.
The velvet ground beneath was gentle
And the cooling shade gave cheer to passers by
Its towering arms a landmark stood erect and unafraid
As if to say “Fear not from life's alarms”.
It fell one day
Where it had dauntless stood, was loneliness and void.
But those who passed, paid tribute – and said.
“To know this life was good.
It left it's mark on me, it's work stands fast”.
And so it lives,
Such life no bonds can hold –
This giant pine magnificent and old.
