BERARDI, Dino

BerardiPassed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the age of 69 years surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Concetta (nee D’Alessandro), his children Carlo (wife Carole), Catherine (partner Dan), Philip (wife Lyndsay) and two adored grandchildren Geneviève and Sofia. He joins his parents Carlo and Caterina Berardi as well as his sister Daria D’Addario (husband Ernesto). He leaves behind his sisters Marisa Mincone (late husband Salvatore), Nicolina Talucci (late husband Camillo), sister-in-law Lina D’Alessandro and brother-in-law Tobia D’Alessandro. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Dino was born in Ofena, Italy and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1956. He met and married the love of his life Concetta in 1967 and was to celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary in the fall. The love that he had for Concetta he also shared with his children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and his many friends. Although his passing was sudden, Dino lived a life full of love, laughter and happiness. He was a hardworking man who was dedicated to his family and proud of his children and their accomplishments. He was always welcoming, a generous man who loved the company of his friends and family. He was passionate about many things in life, including his garden and his pal Leo. He would spend countless hours in the back yard (his paradise), working in his garden and proudly sharing the results of his hard work with his friends and family. His family is at peace knowing that Dino is now in a better place. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, August 31, 2009 from 6 - 9 pm. Prayers to be celebrated at 5:30 pm. Funeral Mass from St. Gregory’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 11 am. Monsignor Victor Amadio officiating. Private entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In his legacy, the family has decided to develop a memorial fund in his honour through the Northern Ontario School of Medicine to facilitate recruiting physicians to Sault Ste. Marie…his home.
