BELANGER, Norman James

Posted

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of a very dearly loved, respected and devoted husband, father and grandfather on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the age of 80 years. Norman fought long and hard but always maintained a positve attitude and smile that warmed the heart of others. Norman's determination and strength was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife Dorothy of 55 years, his devoted sons Edwin (Paula), Ken (Linda), his adoring daughters Glenda Whorpole (Ken) and Evelyn (Dan Miles), He was a mentor and inspiration to eleven grandchildren. He instilled in them the value and importance of family. Norman leaves behind four great grandchildren. Many stories will to be told to insure they will always remember their papa. He was a loving brother to three surviving sisters and he was pre-deceased by eight brothers and four sisters. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. At the! family's request a private funeral was held at Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Saturday, November 13, 2004 with Monsignor Victor Amadio officiating. Cremation followed. Memorial donations made to the SAH Oncology Education Fund would be appreciated by the family. As Norman requested, he was allowed to make his final journey with dignity and with his family by his side and for that we thank Drs. Lohar, Walde, Febbraro and the nursing staff at the Plummer Hospital Oncology (Colette), the Bayshore Nurses (Kim and Marnie) and the compassion shown to Norm while in your care. In addition to his dedication to his family, Norman was a very active member in the community. He was elected to the Catholic School Board and an active voice for the U.S.W.A. Retiree Committee as well as a member and participant of St. Gregory's Church. Many blessings go out to the numerous friends he has encountered. We know he has touch many hearts.
