BANKSPassed away peacefully on Thursday March 3, 2011 at the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre, Ottawa, at the age of 90. Predeceased by his cherished wife, Frances, who passed away in June 2010. Loving father of Janet (Frank Kewley), Judy (Michael Connors) and Jamie (Cathy Boisclair). Grandfather of Jillian, Christopher, Emma (Daryl McKinnon), Jason, Lindsay and Craig. Great grandfather of Anastasia and Michaela all of the Ottawa area. Dear brother of Helen and Anne Banks and the late Jack Routledge, and uncle of Jacqueline Nystedt, all of Sault Ste. Marie. Dad proudly served in the RCAF 435 Squadron 1941-46 in England and Burma and enjoyed many air force reunions over the years. Professionally, Dad was a metallurgist for 43 years with Chromasco (formerly Chromium Mining & Smelting) in Sault Ste. Marie and Beauharnois, Quebec. After retiring back to the Sault in 1984, he spent many happy hours playing pool, bocce, crib and socializing with friends. Dad loved music and dancing and enjoyed dances on Wednesday afternoons at the Sault Legion. To celebrate his life, friends are invited to attend at Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10 am. Rev. Frank Parsons officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund would be appreciated by the family. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.

Members of the Royal Canadian Legion are requested to assemble at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday March 21, 2011 at 10:00 am for a memorial service for the late Jim Banks.
