Peacefully at Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Dona passed away. She is now reunited with her daughter Kenna and son-in-law Jeff.

Left behind to miss her are her husband Kenneth of 63 years and son Dan (Lori). She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren Whitney (David), Grant, and Samantha. She was the extremely proud Nannie of her great grandsons Marshall and Logan. Dona leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she greatly adored. She was the daughter of the late Anna (Morton) Frayn and Douglas McGregor. Daughter-in-law to the late Paul and Hilda Ballstadt. Survived by her brother Charles Frayn (late Brenda) and predeceased by her brother Bob Frayn and sister Eunice Kennedy (Clifford). Sister-in-law of  Dorothy Ballstadt (late Carl), Wayne and Asta Ballstadt, and the late Janice.

Dona cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbours, always offering up homemade baking or meals. She knit hundreds of hats for the SAH maternity unit and many comfort dolls for children who may have required a little extra support in a time of need. Dona enjoyed sharing stories and talking to her friends and family about the past so the important history she loved so much was never forgotten. A piano player to her very last days, Dona could hear a tune and play it right away, getting everyone up on the dance floor.
You may remember Dona from her many activities over the years such as curling, camping, choir, and volunteering just to name a few.

Thank you to the SAH nurses in emergency and 3C, as well as Dr. Culina for the care and comfort we received.

Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. As per Dona’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held. Spring interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Ballstadt family.
