ARMSTRONG, ALICE

Passed away peacefully at the Tendercare Nursing Home, in Sault Ste. Marie, on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the age of 86. Loving wife of the late Gorden Armstrong. Loving mother of Elizabeth Bettger (Bryan), Wendy Molyneaux (Brian), Ron Armstrong (Marilyn), Eric Armstrong and Mary Stouffer (Richard). Grandmother to 9 and Great Grandmother to 3. Sister to George Hodge (Dougie), and predeceased by sisters Mary (Molyneaux,), Elsie (Sharp) and Muriel (Troup). Alice grew up in Huntsville then moved with her family to the Sault in 1957. She spent most of her teaching career at Rosedale Public School. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, 1643 Wellington St. E., Sault Ste. Marie at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 5th, 2010. Reception will follow at the church. A special thanks to Anne Magill for being such a kind and devoted friend to Alice. Alice will be remembered for her love of family gatherings, her garden and her enthusiasm for playing scrabble. In May, she will be laid to rest in Port Sydney, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation or to St. Matthew’s Anglican Church.
