November 22, 1987 - February 13, 2024

On February 13, 2024, RJ Anderson passed away peacefully, surrounded by those he loved at ARCH.

We lost RJ as a result of complications from a liver condition he had battled with courage and quiet dignity for 18 years of his adult life. Although only 36 at the time of his death, RJ affected many people in his lifetime.

RJ was committed to friendship. He was a true friend to his friends – ready and willing at a moment’s notice for the sake of friendship.

RJ was a graduate of St Mary’s College, Class of 2005. He was an explorer at heart. RJ had a love of the great outdoors and many of his happiest days were spent in the woods either hiking, walking with Tobey, camping with his group of friends or just being in nature. He loved Parry Sound and would stop in and visit there whenever he got the chance to. He wished he could have continued his service with the 49th (Sault Ste. Marie) Field Regiment. Although he was only able to serve for 2 years, he was very proud of that. He loved being outside and proud of his lawn care and handyman work, cutting down trees etc. He loved fixing things and helping other people. RJ loved to dance and have a good time. He also loved to play video games in his free time and enjoyed reading. He was always passionate about physical fitness, and he loved Lake Superior, and looked forward to camping in or around the area with his group of friends.

RJ had a deep love for his family, especially for his niece and nephews. Every time RJ walked through the door Uncle “Punchy” was here to play. He didn’t hesitate to throw on a firefighter hat and dash around the house, bake, or play with stuffies, he picked up scattered toys, planned activities for the kids, and frequently took all of them to Bellevue Park. The love he had for the kids was written all over his face, and these little ones? They adored him right back. Without being asked, he offered his hand in all the ways that made our lives just a little bit easier. Thank you, brother, for being the perfect uncle to the kids. They are going to miss you so much.

RJ was a loving son and best friend to his mother, Beverly Kelly (Curtis Kelly), and his father, Ron Anderson. He is survived by his siblings April Tomas (Jacob Tomas), Rozlynne Anderson, Autumn Anderson (Ethan Buonomo), brother-in-law Adam Klymciw (Ashley Sagle), by his niece Ophelia Tomas, and nephews; Alec Gregorini (Bree Derochie), Hudson Klymciw and Eli Klymciw, and his beloved dog Tobey. His best friends and whom were there until the very end; Jake Miller (Ariel Williams), Vaino Humalamaki (Brianne Campbell), Clay Tessier, Meghan DeBarsanti and Katie Wardlaw.

RJ’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the health-care professionals at Arch Hospice and Dr. Booth for their care and commitment for RJ. RJ will be missed forever, but we know that he will live in the hearts of all who shared their grief with us during this difficult time. On behalf of the entire family, please accept our deepest thanks.

RJ loved so many and was loved by so many more. We will miss him so much.

A celebration of life will be announced in March 2024.

Those who choose to give a gift to honor RJ are asked to make a contribution in his name to ARCH (payable online https://www.archhospice.ca/ or by cheque).
