ANDRESEN Tommy3

(June 27, 1926 – January 13, 2022)

It is with profound sadness but gentle comfort that we announce Tommy’s peaceful passing on Thursday, January 13, 2022, in his 95th year.

Missing him dearly is his wife and best friend of 70 years, Herdis; by his children Rene (Janice), Allan (Suzie) and Annette Johnson (Les). Proud grandfather of Tanya, Ryan, Robert, Melanie, Tom and (late) Kimberly and of course his 11 great-grandchildren!

Born in Denmark to the late Karl and Jenny. Brother to the late Bent and Lillian and fondly remembered “onkel” by his Danish “familie”.  Tommy was fiercely proud of his Danish heritage and its traditions and was quick to offer a SKOL if the occasion called.

Tommy served in the Danish Military during WWII.  He immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his best friend (late) Gottlieb “Peter” Martinsen.  In 1952, a then 19 year old Herdis would make the solo trip to join him in Sault Ste Marie, marry and begin their life/love story.

Tommy’s family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and caring staff at Extendicare Mapleview – Goulais Bay.  Thank you to Dr. Gayle Yee and NPR Lauren Beeson for your guidance.  A special thank you to Tommy’s longtime GP Dr. Michael Hackett – dad thought the world of you!

As per Tommy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.  Memorial donations made to the Sault Ste. Marie Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family (payable by cheque or at https://alzheimer.ca/algoma/en/take-action/donate ). Visit www.osullivanfuneralhome.com to leave condolences for the family. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St James Street, Sault Ste. Marie, ON, P6A 1P7, 705-759-8456).

VI ELSKER DIG FAR!
