With deep sorrow and much love, we announce the passing of Harold with his wife Betty by his side, on Monday, August 15, 2022, at the age of 93. 

He is also survived by his children Stephen (Denise), Becky (Ray), and Jim (Emmalee) and grandchildren Joshua Allen (Sarvenaz), Amanda Oakes (Joshua), Kaitlyn Allen (Chris), Bryce Allen and Byron Allen, Keira Gagne (David), Sophie Gagne (Cory), Jackson Allen and Aurora Allen, 5 great grandchildren and his brother Stanley (late Jeanette). 

He was predeceased by his daughter Elura, his sisters Doris (late Lloyd) and Dorothy.

Harold was born on Manitoulin Island and worked on the ships of the Great Lakes and was the youngest survivor of the S. S. Emperor that struck Canoe Rocks off Isle Royale in 1947. He moved to land and worked as a Stationary Engineer at Algoma Steel until he retired in 1992. 

Service by Helen Smith and Internment will take place at West Korah Cemetery on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. 

The family would like to thank Marcy and the staff at Paramed and all the staff at CBI. He would not have been able to stay at home as was his wish without their amazing care.
