Posted

Our Dad slipped away from us in his sleep on April 21st to be with the love of his life, Joanne, who he was married to for almost 60 years. He missed her so and now they are together again. Dad had an incredible life. He worked for MacIntyre Mines and Noranda Mines in the Safety Department for over 30 years and got to retire to his beloved
garden for 20 years where Mom raised flowers and Dad grew vegetables. He is survived by his children, Wayne (Trudy), Elaine, Gwen, Deborah (Jim) and Glenn and was graced with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad fulfilled other dreams during his retirement. He was a veteran of WWII and was past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 374, St. Joseph's Island. He was also Grand Master of DYMENT Lodge A.F. and A.M. No.
442 G.R.C., Thessalon, Ontario. Dad is also survived by his older brother Gordon and his wife Evelyn, his
sister Audrey Wood and his sister-in-law Joyce Allen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Apr. 25th at 1:30, Royal Canadian
Legion Branch #374, St. Joseph's Island, Ontario. A reception tea will follow. We welcome you to help us say goodbye to our beloved brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. The family requests donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Vernon.
