Peacefully, on Wednesday March 7, 2012, after a lengthy and couragoeus battle with Emphysema. In his 70th year, surrounded by his family at War Memorial Hospital. Wayne left our world to be with his wife and soul mate, Ellen Lynne. Born September 4, 1942, in Rennsslear Indiana, he was the youngest of 11 siblings born to John Shannon and Opal May Akers. Wayne is survived by his children Michelle(Gary), Shari, Kevin (Jessica), Micheal, Diane (Chris), Shannon, and Wayne (Jen). Grandfather of 17, and Great Grandfather of 4 and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Waynes' life is to be held at Hovie's Funeral Home (558 bingham ave. Sault ste Marie, Mich.), on Saturday March 10th from 1-2 pm, with service by Josh Jansen commencing. Memorial contributions to Community Actions, in lieu of flowers would be appreciated. The family would like to extended a very special THANK YOU, to the doctors and nurses of the I.C.U. unit of War Memorial.
