Wigginton scores 21 points to lead Canada to win over Japan at U19 World Cup

CAIRO — Lindell Wigginton scored 21 points to lead Canada to a 100-75 win over Japan at the FIBA under-19 Basketball World Cup on Tuesday.

Canada (2-1) secured second place in Group C with the victory.

Wigginton, from Dartmouth, N.S., added nine rebounds and four assists. R.J. Barrett of Mississauga, Ont., and Danilo Djuricic of Brampton, Ont., added 20 points apiece.

"Good win for us today," said head coach Roy Rana. "Happy to see a number of players play well and hopefully we can start to get on a roll."

Canada will play the third-place team from Group D in the round of 16 on Wednesday.

The tournament continues through Sunday.
