Montreal is moving to name a new park after Montreal Canadiens great Dickie Moore.
The park would be located in the Park Extension neighbourhood where Moore grew up.
A resolution adopted by the city's executive committee this week will need to be voted on at council and approved by the province’s toponymy commission.
Construction begins in the fall with the intention of inaugurating the park next year.
Moore played 12 seasons with the Canadiens between 1951 and 1963, winning six Stanley Cups and a pair of Art Ross trophies.
He also played briefly for the St. Louis Blues and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The winger was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1974 and had his jersey retired by the Canadiens in 2005.
Following his hockey career, Moore became a successful businessman renting out construction equipment.
Moore passed away in December 2015 from prostate cancer. He was 84.
