MONTREAL — Halifax's Ellie Black qualified for the all-around finals in third place on Wednesday at the artistic gymnastics world championships.

"We are very pleased with Canada's results in the qualifications," said Dave Brubaker, women's national team director. "Having six athletes in the finals is something new for us, and of course our athletes want to perform their absolute best in front of the hometown crowd so we will continue training and execute our plan to try to produce the best results in the all-around finals and the individual event finals."
