Sir James Dunn holds off White Pines

The Sir James Dunn Eagles were happy to watch the final seconds tick away on the surging White Pines Wolverines.

Despite building a 14-0 halftime lead, the Eagles watched the Wolverines gain momentum over the second half.

But Sir James Dunn managed to hang on for a 15-6 win on Saturday afternoon at Rocky DiPietro Field for an opening week victory in High School Football League senior division play.

Jarvis Milne led the Eagles offense with two touchdowns to go with 113 yards rushing on 17 carries. Kicker Aaron Robinson booted two converts and a punt single.

Jordan Vernelli added 71 yards rushing on 14 carries for the Eagles.

Sean Plumley led the Wolverines attack with 142 yards rushing on 20 carries and a touchdown. Mike Hope added 65 yards along the ground on 12 carries.

In junior division action on Saturday morning, the Eagles defeated the Wolverines 35-7. Scoring details were not available.
