Winners of True North Strong Scholarship announced

Northern Credit Union (Northern) is excited to announce the winners of the True North Strong Scholarship.

Mia Burzese, Hayden Gowan, Laila Ikki, Stephanie Katajamaki and Gianni Mascarin will each receive a $1,000 scholarship, which will help them pay for their upcoming post-secondary education programs.

Applications were open to grade 12 students located throughout Ontario planning to attend a post-secondary institution in the fall of 2019.

Students were asked to write a 1,000 word essay, which focused on topics related to their community and education. Points were awarded for identifying key concepts, along with the quality and creativity of the overall essay.

“This is just such an exciting time and an honour to be able to help these students as they continue their education and work towards their careers,” says Liisa Woolley, SVP Member Experience. ”We [Northern] have always been committed to helping our Northern youth reach their educational and financial goals, and this scholarship is another great example of how we can do that.”
