The ONE Social Enterprise Partnerships – Northern Region (known as SEE) will offer a live series of webinars for business developers and social enterprises from Oct. 29 – Nov. 2.

Social enterprises have a mission to address social, environmental or cultural challenges by reinvesting profits back into their missions. Social enterprises take many forms, ranging from sole-proprietor businesses to cooperatives and not-for-profit organizations. They differ from other small businesses in that they use the “triple bottom line” (People, Planet, Profit) to assess success.

Whether starting a new social enterprise, measuring social impact, or scaling up an existing enterprise, these webinars provide training, peer mentoring, and networking that support the success of new and established social enterprises.

“These webinars will provide business developers the skills and resources to assist social enterprises from idea to start up to scale up," says Maureen Strickland, SEE’s Social Enterprise Development Specialist.

Webinar topics include an introduction to social enterprise; social enterprise start-up; measuring social impact; community asset mapping and approaches to developing peer mentoring circles among others.

“The breadth of knowledge and experience shared in these live webinars will be invaluable for indigenous social enterprises, social entrepreneurs and new business start-ups with a focus on community resilience.” says Nadine Roach, SEE’s Indigenous Social Enterprise Development Specialist.

Upon registration a confirmation email will be sent to you with the link and call in number to join the meeting on the scheduled day and time. The webinars will be recorded and posted at www.seethechange.ca at a later date. Please visit the SEE website for more details.

The ONE Social Enterprise Partnerships – Northern Region is comprised of NORDIK Institute, the Timmins Business Development Centre, Northwest Innovation Centre, PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise, and YouLaunch, a division of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre. Its goal is to help social enterprises develop the solid business fundamentals they need to start and grow; to develop regionallytailored approaches to deliver training, mentorship, and other services to social enterprises; and to build the capacity of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE) members in their region to serve social enterprises and entrepreneurs.

NORDIK Institute is Algoma University’s community based research organization whose goal is to build Northern Ontario’s capacity to conduct research that contributes to social, economic and environmental justice in rural, Indigenous and northern communities and provides evidence for informed policy and decision making.
