Steelworkers hold first annual charity golf tournament

On Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 the United Steelworkers held their 1st Annual Steelworkers Charity Golf Tournament. This year, the proceeds of the tournament are being donated to the Twinkie Foundation.

The Twinkie Foundation is a registered charity that helps local families who need to take a sick or terminally ill child to Toronto’s Sickkids Hospital or other specialty treatment locations. They provide financial help towards expenses, such as travel and hotels, etc.

The final tally of the golf tournament resulted in a $10,000 donation. There were also donations from USW Local 2724 of $2,000 and $5,000 from USW Local 2251.

We would like to thank all the businesses and Local Unions that sponsored a hole or contest or donated a prize. We would also like to thank all the golfers who came out on Saturday despite the weather.
