NEWS RELEASE

MAITLAND FORD LINCOLN

*************************
Maitland Ford Lincoln is working with Sault College, St. Mary’s College and St. Mary’s French Immersion Elementary School this October to raise donations in support of local food banks through WE Scare Hunger, an action-based campaign to help end local hunger. Many students will even collect food items instead of candy this Hallowe’en.

Food banks are an important method of addressing hunger in Canada. Each month, over 850,000 people turn to food banks for help; more than one-third of those being children and youth.*

“We understand how difficult it is to end hunger worldwide, but with the help of our community and schools, we hope to make an impact locally – ending hunger for as many families as possible right here in Sault Ste. Marie,” said Judith Kovala, dealership operations, Maitland Ford Lincoln. “One meal can make a huge difference.”

Students from all three schools will be doing a paper bag drop to local neighbourhood homes on Oct. 24. Residents are encouraged to place non-perishable items in the bags, which will be picked up on Oct. 27.

Items in high demand include personal hygiene products, cereal, kids’ snacks, canned potatoes, fish and vegetables, spices and white sugar.

Residents are also invited to participate in several WE Scare Hunger food drives at Rome’s Independent Grocer and Pino’s Get Fresh Foods on various days throughout the month.

Maitland Ford Lincoln will have a donation bin in their lobby (1124 Great Northern Rd.) and community members will be entered into a draw for a chance to win $100 gift card for The Mill Steakhouse + Wine Bar for each non-perishable food item donated. Help the dealership fill as many Ford F-150 trucks as possible!
