The Sault Symphony Orchestra’s Seniors Connect program received a $500 donation thanks to a recent fundraising initiative hosted by Uride.

On July 25, “the Ride for a Reason initiative encouraged riders to participate by pledging 10 per cent of all fares earned on July 25 toward supporting senior centres in the cities they operate in,” says a news release issued by Uride.

“Out of the total donation amount, a dedicated sum of $500 has been allocated specifically for the Seniors Connect program,” Uride marketing coordinator Jairo Gonzalez told SooToday. “We believe strongly in their mission and feel honoured to be able to support them in this way.”

Uride, the local ridesharing company, is thrilled to announce the remarkable success of its Ride for a Reason initiative as part of the ongoing Good Deeds Program. The program, which took place on July 25, witnessed an outpouring of support from the community, resulting in the collection of more than $8,000, all of which will be donated to local senior centres.

Uride's commitment to making a positive impact in local communities continues to resonate strongly. The Ride for a Reason initiative encouraged riders to participate by pledging 10 per cent of all fares earned on July 25 toward supporting senior centres in the cities they operate in. The enthusiastic response and generous contributions from our riders surpassed our expectations, demonstrating the compassion and unity within our community.

"We are extremely proud of the overwhelming response," said Cody Ruberto, the founder and CEO of Uride. "The dedication and support from our riders have not only raised a significant amount of funds but have also shown great compassion for our senior citizens. By participating in this program, our riders have made a meaningful difference.”

The proceeds from this initiative will be directed to local senior centres, including Seniors Connect. These centres play a vital role in providing essential services and care to our elderly population, promoting their well-being, and fostering a sense of community and connection.

"We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the riders who joined us in this endeavour," Ruberto continued. "Your decision to book a Uride on July 25 has significantly impacted the lives of our senior community members. Together, we have shown that even a small act of kindness can make a tremendous difference."
