Sault College Public Relations and Event Management Program raises money for ARCH Hospice and the Neighbourhood Resource Centre

The Sault College Public Relations and Event Management Program (PEM) had a successful weekend raising funds to help out ARCH Hospice and the Neighbourhood Resource Centre. The Split Happens bowling tournament this past Friday raised over $1,200 for ARCH Hospice. The bowling tournament was sold out and had over 100 participants taking part in the fun evening, which included pizza and prizes. On Saturday, the 3 on 3 for NRC Soccer Tournament raised over $1,300 and was a huge success among young people in the community with over 50 local participants. This event promoted healthy active living while taking a break from the stressful workweek or semester.

Natasha Colak, coordinator of the PEM Program, said: “Public relations training was combined with expert instruction in all facets of planning, executing and analyzing both fundraising events. Gino Cavallo and I are so proud of our students who used creativity and perseverance in the execution of both events this past weekend. As the professors of these students, what matters most are the skills they have learned during our program this past year and the lifelong skills of determination, time management and endurance. This weekend proved that they are ready to start their internship placements next month.”
