No public meetings as part of this year's water source protection consultations

Due to COVID-19, Sault Ste. Marie Region Source Protection Plan public consultations will all be online, says conservation authority

SAULT STE MARIE REGION CONSERVATION AUTHORITY

The Sault Ste. Marie Region Source Protection Committee (SPC) is inviting the public to comment on proposed updates to the Sault Ste. Marie Region Source Protection Plan, Assessment Report and Explanatory Document.

The public consultation period is 35 days beginning Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, until Friday, Nov. 27, 2020.

This public consultation will not include public meetings due to Covid-19. Updates under Section 36 of the Clean Water Act for the Approved Assessment Report, Source Protection Plan, and the Explanatory Document can be found on the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority website.

Under the Clean Water Act (2006), Section 36 (S.36) the updates are required to ensure sustained protection of the municipal drinking water sources. The SPC will consider any comments received and revise the proposed updates, as necessary.
