The McDougall Energy Rotary Charity Golf Classic tees off on Thursday, Aug. 23 at Crimson Ridge Golf Course on behalf of THRIVE Child Development Centre.

McDougall Energy’s generous donation of $17,000 kick-starts the countdown to the most important fundraiser of the year for THRIVE, a local centre for children and youth under 18 who are impacted by differences in physical, perceptual, communication and developmental trajectories that builds on their unique strengths, gifts and talents.

“We’re thrilled to be supporting the Rotary Charity Golf Classic as its Title Sponsor in Rotary’s 100th year of service” commented Darren McDougall, President of McDougall Energy “Their commitment to the children and families of this community is second to none and we’re happy to play a part in that.”

Since 2013, the tournament has raised over $170,000 which THRIVE has used for augmentative and alternative communication devices, physiotherapy equipment (e.g., treadmills, weights), and making spaces more welcoming for THRIVE’s children, youth & families.

“The Rotary Club of Sault Ste Marie is pleased to welcome the McDougal Energy Group as Title Sponsor for this year’s Rotary Charity Golf Classic. McDougall Energy has been part of this community for over 70 years, and has always been a strong supporter of this community and a generous supporter of Rotary’s projects,” shared Event Chair and Rotarian Doug Powell. “Partnered with Rotary’s 100th year celebration, we are sure to put together a memorable event.”

“We here at THRIVE and the THRIVE Foundation are overwhelmed by the amazing support of McDougall Energy Inc. We cannot say thank you enough,” added THRIVE CEO Christianne Monico. “Knowing the kindness, generosity and strong community ties of the McDougall family, and recognizing that McDougall Energy Inc. is the recent winner of Canada’s Best Managed Companies in 2018, we are definitely not surprised by this wonderful gesture, but we are truly humbled by their contributions and support and would like them to know what a difference they are making in children’s and families’ lives.”
