Lions lottery win comes at perfect time

The Lions Club of SSM 50/50 draw, license No. 834571, was held on Dec. 13 at 8:00 pm at Lions Place on Bay Street. Marg Parr from Thessalon was the lucky winner of $6,028.50 with ticket No. 1870. 

Parr stated she prefers to support smaller lottery draws from various local organizations such as the Lions Club rather than larger local lottery draws. Your chance of winning is better and these organizations provide a lot of support in our community to groups that need it. She also stated that this lottery win could not have come at a better time.

Lion Club members Frank Gallo and his wife Emma Gallo, who sold the winning ticket at Northern Avenue Metro are included in the photo as well as Lion Hedi Kment and her guide dog Tinker. Lion Hedi served over 86 hours over a 10 week period at the store locations and sold over $2,000 worth of tickets.  

The net proceeds from this draw will support local charities such as the Salvation Army, St. Vincent Place, Christmas Cheer and the Soup Kitchen Community Centre. The Lions Club appreciates the community for its continued support. 

The Lions Club volunteered over 700 service hours within our city through this draw. A huge thank you goes to Pino’s Get Fresh, Walmart, Metro Market Mall, Metro Churchill Plaza and Metro Northern Avenue for allowing tickets to be sold in these locations.
