Jeronamo Solutions moves into Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship

A local marketing and web development firm has a new home. Jeronamo Solutions recently moved into the Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Operated by the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation, the site houses the organization’s enterprise services team and programs, along with a small business incubator that now hosts nine companies.

Jeronamo Solutions is a creative marketing agency that employs two full-time staff, two part-time workers and additional project-specific staff as required.

For owner Monique Morrison, the move to the Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship was a natural and needed transition. She used to run the company out of her home, but with continued growth, a new and larger setting was required.

“I love the space and on-site business support team at the Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship,” said Morrison, who operates Jeronamo Solutions with her husband, Jeremy Henderson. “It’s also nice to be around other entrepreneurs. We’re a community of like-minded individuals, and we often bounce ideas off each other. It’s a perfect setting to run a business.”

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Morrison moved to Edmonton a decade ago, where she worked in the hospitality sector and eventually became a brand manager for a major hotel chain.

While in western Canada, she met her husband, a fellow marketing specialist who hails from a small city in northern British Columbia. Seeking a place to settle down and start a family, they moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 2011.

“We wanted to reconnect with nature,” said Morrison, who started Jeronamo Solutions as a way to utilize her marketing talent and return to her hometown. “In the Sault, you can drive thirty minutes in any direction and be surrounded by forest or water. It’s a great place for outdoor activity, which we love, and it’s a great place to raise children. We’re very happy and feel blessed to be here.”

Opened earlier this year, the Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship is located in the Machine Shop. A number of firms are now operating out of the facility, including Purus Fuels, Northstar Consulting, MBR Services of Canada, Dizzytree, and Possibilities Group.

The Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship is a key priority project for the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation.

The initiative is part of the community’s downtown Canal District revitalization plan and is supported by all levels of government, including FedNor - Industry Canada, the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, and City Council’s Economic Development Fund.

“Studies show that after five years of operation, businesses that utilize incubation services have a success rate of more than 80 per cent, compared to about 33 per cent for non-incubated companies,” said Tom Dodds, CEO of the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation. “Simply put, the Millworks Centre for Entrepreneurship features the resources to help businesses reach a higher level of operation. The benefits to local entrepreneurs and the local economy are clear, which is why our organization is undertaking this initiative for the community.”
