The Warrior Weekend ended on Sunday, Aug. 29 and despite some major setbacks over the past 18 or more months, Legion Hapkido students did a fantastic job. Our training switched between online lessons to outdoor lessons, and finally back to our Legion Hall home.

We are very proud of all the students who competed for the first time, and all of the Legion Hapkido family cheered on our two newest young ladies, Ava and Alice Baker, who overcame their fear when they broke their one-inch pine boards to earn their white belt.

Our annual award dinner is part of the Warrior Weekend, and we congratulate Black Belt of the Year Steve Jensen, Student of the Year Jacob Roy, and Most Improved Student David Williams-Francis.

Our Indomitable Spirit Award went to Liam Watson, a young man who not only trained hard, but also volunteered to help us keep our Legion Hall in good repair. We not only teach our students kicks and punches, but we also teach them the values of good citizenship. WTG Liam!

A Special Volunteer Appreciation Award was presented to instructor Michael Paciocco by Legion Branch 25 President Helen Stewart, and First Vice-President Pierre Breckenridge. We thank the branch for their generosity and continued support.

The Legion Hapkido Club is a non-profit martial art school, and our programs are extremely affordable. More importantly, all dues we collect are donated to the local Legion Branch to assist our veterans and the community. Classes are on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. After that, it is black belt training time.

Our fall term begins on Thursday, Sept. 2. To give our students proper distance to keep them as safe as possible, we can only accept eight new students this term, and registration is open now.
