SAULT STE. MARIE, MI - The Annual Downtown Sault Ste. Marie Outhouse Races will take place Saturday, February 20 at 2 p.m. near the Palace Saloon on Portage Avenue.

Teams from Lake Superior State University along with local businesses and clubs compete by building unique outhouses bolted to skis.

Registered teams will have a chance to win a $500 first place prize, $250 second place prize, $100 third place prize, or $75 design prize and there is no cost to enter.

Outhouses must be at least 3'x3'x6' and have one person riding and four pushing/pulling.

Sign-in location for teams will be on the corner of Ashmun and Portage in front of 1668 Winery (100 West Portage Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan).

The registration form and more information is available here.

After the races, spectators and racers can head over to the 1668 Winery and Lockside Brewery for a fundraiser for Sault High School Band or "take a
squat" at The Palace Mexican Restaurant and Saloon for “great stinkin’ deals” starting at $4!

Special thanks to the Templeton family for the use of their property and to Scott Templeton for continued support of the event.

Thank you to the 2016 sponsors; The Sault Ste. Marie Convention and Visitors Bureau, UP North Laundry, The Palace Saloon, 1668 Winery and Lockside Brewery, and the Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association.
