Due to the ongoing pandemic, some people are going through difficult times and the mental health of some persons is in decline… including that of our children. In order to provide support, the community of Sault Ste. Marie has welcomed "Rocky the Snake" to the downtown’s boardwalk near the glass dome. People in the community are encouraged to bring their painted rocks with positive messages to add to Rocky's body. Everyone can take pictures and then share them. École Notre-Dame-du-Sault is participating in this community initiative and contributing to the growth of Rocky the Snake.

As a result, Ms. Groleau, a Junior and Senior Kindergarten teacher at Notre-Dame-du-Sault, has encouraged her students and their family to participate by placing their painted rock on which we can read a French-language message. This learning initiative, that students can undertake from home, integrates the arts, health, wellness and physical activity. The students are taking pride in helping Rocky grow and spread smiles in the community.
