Don't fall for Bitcoin scams online, police warn

The Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding the public to stay vigilant of online frauds and scams involving Bitcoin exchanges. You work hard for your money, work even harder to keep your money safe.

When you make the decision to invest your money in Bitcoin companies, do your research and read the reviews. Don't let yourself be pressured into depositing funds or providing any personal information. 

Only download legitimate wallet providers or exchanges and thoroughly research the team behind the wallet or exchange prior to creating an account.  

If you or someone you know has become a victim of fraud and has been tricked into giving personal or financial information, contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, managed the by the RCMP, the Competition Bureau and the Ontario Provincial Police, has plenty of information regarding fraud. Power up today by visiting www.antifraudcentre.ca.
