NEWS RELEASE
CLEAN NORTH
***************************
Local environmental group Clean North is accepting naturally cut Christmas trees at their depot in front of Winners at Cambrian Mall through Jan. 14.

You can drop trees off any time of day, but if you need help removing your tree from your vehicle, it’s best to come when volunteers are scheduled to be on-site (noon to 4 p.m. daily Jan. 1-14).

They are also collecting:

  • Gently used books, magazines, music CDs, and DVD movies/TV series for the Friends of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library
  • Blankets and towels for the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society

If you need help getting your tree to the depot, Just Junk is offering a limited number of appointments for free tree transport on Saturday, Jan. 7. Visit this website to book an appointment.

Donated trees will be chipped into mulch on Sunday, Jan. 15.

Please note that Clean North no longer collects styrofoam at this event as it’s not locally recyclable. They also do not collect cardboard or wrapping paper—place these in your recycling bin (but throw away wrapping paper embossed with foil or plastic).

Clean North has posted a long list of places you can recycle/donate unwanted stuff at cleannorth.org/recycle-stuff.
