Bay Dental Group gives the gift of healthy smiles to local kids

On Friday, Apr. 28, Dr. Carmen Sicoly, Dr. Eric Piscopo the team at Bay Dental Group in Sault Ste. Marie participated in the Give Back Smile Back program by donating their time and dental services to local kids in need of oral health care.

Bay Dental Group opened its doors to provide dental care for kids supported by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie, a local support centre for children in the area. They offered teeth cleanings, fillings, and other dental services. Each participant was given a check-up with a dentist and an oral care kit.

“Our Practice is honoured to be able to give oral care to those in need with initiatives such as the Give Back Smile Back program,” says Tanya, Practice Manager at Bay Dental Group. “Our whole team got involved and it felt so good to help ensure kids are treated with the oral care they need.”

Dr. Billy Lin, a new dentist at the practice who participated in the event, explains the importance of giving back to the community.

“Oral Health Month is a great time to bring awareness to oral health," says Dr. Billy. "Give Back Smile Back is a wonderful program that allows us to support Bay Dental Group and kids who do not have regular access to dental care.”

In Canada, Approximately six million Canadians avoid visiting the dentist every year because of the costi. Nearly half of those in need of treatment are in the lower income group, and a large percentage are children.
