LISTEN: 2020-21 a special season for Lake State hockey

Hear Lake State coach Damon Whitten's thoughts on the 2021 NCAA tournament as well as the 2020-21 season as a whole

The Lake Superior State hockey team opens up the NCAA Division I men's hockey tournament Friday in Bridgetport, Conn. against the University of Massachusetts.

It's the first time since the 1995-96 season that the program has appeared in the tournament and their Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff title was the first conference title for the school since the 1995-96 season when the team was a part of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.

On Wednesday, we chatted with Lakers coach Damon Whitten about the tournament and what's been an unusual, but still very successful, season for the program.
