BDO Dunwoody – 1 vs. North to Adventure – 0

This game focused on defense, as the game remained scoreless through the first two periods. With less than five minutes to go in the game BDO’s, Karen Rosebrook was able to put the puck passed North to Adventure goaltender, Melissa Holder to give her team the win. Picking up the assist was Julie Hazelton.

Algoma Insurance – 3 vs. Crawford’s Canines – 6

The teams started out with a quick pace, as Algoma was first to get on the score board, when Pam Booth was able to tip a pass into the net from Tammy Vince. Less then three minutes later, Algoma struck again, when Lisa Rowlinson fired one passed Crawford’s goalie Joy Agawa. Korri Rajala picked up the lone assist on the play. Crawford’s were able to get within one at the end of the first period, when Jennifer Mortimore scored and Robyn Bourck picked up the assist. The teams continued to battle in the second period, when Crawford’s were able to tie the game at two going into the third period. Scoring for Crawford’s was Lisa Turco, assisted by Mortimore. Algoma came out flying in the third, as Booth picked up her second goal of the game, giving her team the lead. Not to be outdone, Crawford’s didn’t give up scoring four more times to seal the victory. Goal scorers were Mortimore (2) giving her the hat trick and Marisa Pecile (2). Assists went to Turco, Bourck and Pam Jurich.

Easy Express – 2 vs. Skip’s Kweok – 1

The first period was intense, as both goalies were tested often, but each made some big saves when needed to keep their team on top. By doing so, the first period ended with either team being able to score. The second period started off with more of the same, until Skip’s Mona Jones was able to fire one passed Easy Express goaltender Karen Armstrong to give her team the lead. Down by one going into the third period, Easy Express was determined to tie things up. At 11:52, Easy Express’ Debby Bain netted her first goal of the season to tie the game. With both teams applying pressure and looking for victory Easy Express was able to capitalize, as Kristie Kernaghen was able to beat Skip’s net minder Sherri Collins. Picking up an assists for Easy Express was Kellie Nelson and Sarah Fischer.

Lafarge – 0 vs. Brookfield Power – 3

Brookfield Power came out with a well-balanced attack scoring a goal in each period to give them the win. Goal scorers for Brookfield were Heidi Morgan, Karen Gartshore and Stacy Boville. Assists went to Debbie Beauchamp, Maddy Kasubeck, and Cindy Sierzputkowski. Lafarge fought hard and never gave up, but they just weren’t able to beat Brookfield’s goaltender Amanda Luther who picked up the shutout.

White Oak Paint – 5 vs. Ontario Concrete – 4

This game was filled with action, and suspense as it went down to the final minutes of the game to decide a winner. White Oak started the scoring earlier in the first period, when Katie Healey took a pass from Emilie Corbeil and rifled it passed Ont. Concrete’s net minder Cheri Taylor. Less than two minutes later Ont. Concrete tied the things up when Justine Rodgers netted her first goal of the game. Shelli Ubriaco picked up an assist on the play. At 2:32 Ont. Concrete took the lead when Ubriaco netted one of her own, as Suzanne Dunn picked up the assist. With 1:58 left in the period White Oak tied the game up again, when Wendy Basawa scored an unassisted goal. The back and forth action continued in the second period with Ont. Concrete scoring first. This time it was Lori Ballstadt who was able to put one passed White Oak’s goalie Kristen Nelson. Carrie Mancuso picked up an assist on the goal. White Oak scored the next two goals to put them up by one going into the third period. Goal scorers were Healey and Basawa, and an assist went to Erin Smylie. In the third period, Ont. Concrete was able to tie the game with 3:35 left as Rodgers picked up her second goal of the game and Ubriaco her second assist. As the fans cheered on their team, hoping for the best it was White Oak’s Basawa scoring her third goal of the game to give her team the win and her the hat trick.
