In action from week 11 in the local Women's Hockey League:

White Oak Paint – 3 vs. Algoma Ins. – 3

In the first out of two games to be played at the Steelback, the fans in attendance were not disappointed with the play from both teams. Algoma came out flying in the first period, scoring at 13:01 was Wendy Basawa, assisted by Theresa Glover and Sandra McLennan. White Oak wasn't going to go down quietly, scoring one of their just two minutes later. Scoring for White Oak was Sarah Fischer, unassisted. Algoma wasn't finished though, scoring once more before the period was out, putting them by one going into the second. Scoring for Algoma was Julie Laforce, assisted by Wendy Basawa. Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the second period. White Oak put the pressure on in the third scoring twice to give them a 3-2 lead. Scoring for White Oak was Debbie Johnston (2), assisted by Elaine Angelic (2), and Michele Irwin. Algoma wasn't done though; Robyn Bourck was able to score with just 33 seconds left in the game to tie things up at three. Picking up the assist was Glover.

Skip's Kweok – 4 vs. Sports Gold – 0

This was the second game to be held at the Steel back. Skip's had a balanced attack, scoring in each period, and from four different players. Scoring in the first period for Skips' was Leah-Anne Pine and Kelly Cudmore, assisted by Pine, Lisa Keranen, Cheri Sewell, and Laurie Masters. Scoring in the second was Julie Hodkinson, from Sewell. In third period, Skip's final goal came from the hands of Mona Jones, unassisted.

B&J Trucking – 5 vs. Skip's Kweok – 1

B&J was all fired up for this one, getting on the scoreboard first and then never looking back. Starting things off for B&J was Heather O'Toole, assisted by Chantal Anderson. Skip's would net one of their own at the beginning of the second period, to tie things up at one. Scoring for Skip's was Julie Hodkinson, unassisted. B&J had their sights set on victory, scoring three unanswered goals, giving them the lead and the victory. Scoring for B&J was Julie Laroque, Joanne Pine and Deb Nolan. Picking assists were Natalie Barry, Jennifer Methot, and Pine. Just for good measure, B&J scored once more in the third, from Nolan, assisted by Methot and Pine.

BDO Dunwoody – 3 vs. Crawford's Canines – 1

The goaltenders were a big part of the first period, not allowing a goal and keeping the game scoreless. But it was Crawford's who was able to strike first, as pickup player Stacy Boville, snapped one passed BDO's Meredith Agliani. BDO wasn't about to give it, scoring with just 46 seconds left in the second period to tie things up at one. Scoring for BDO was Jennifer Greco, assisted by Kellie Carter. The third period was all BDO, scoring twice more to give them the victory. Scoring for BDO was Greco, her second of the game and Katie Healey. Elaine DeRosario and Debbie Maskell picked up the assists for BDO.

Brookfield Power - 3 vs. Algoma Ins. – 3

Both teams seemed to be just warming up in the first period, with neither side scoring goal, but scoring a combined 5 goals in the second the period. Brookfield was able to score twice in second, from Sue Chiblow and Jennifer Mortimore. Assists were picked by Sherry Boston and Sharon Templeton. Algoma scored three times in the second to give them the early advantage. Scoring for Algoma was Wendy Basawa (2), and Robyn Bourck. Bourck also picked up 2 assists. Brookfield was not going to give up, lead by goaltender Lorie Springall who made some outstanding saves to keep her team in the game. With the momentum shifting, Brookfield was able to tie things up in the third period, when Francine Floreani rifled one passed Algoma's Joey Montgomery. Assisting on Floreani's goal was Cindy Sierzputkowski.

Country Way – 6 vs. Ont. Concrete – 4

This game was filled with non-stop action, from beginning to end. In the first period, the teams combined for three goals, Country Way scoring two, and Ont. Concrete scoring one. Scoring for Country Way was Andrea Garson and Karen Jansa. Assists went to Jansa, Diane Peitrakowski, and Julie Hazelton. Getting the goal for Ont. Concrete was Nicole Beauchamp, assisted by Debbie Beauchamp. The onslaught of goals continued in the second period as five goals were scored in the period. Scoring for Country Way was Patti Storozuk (2), assisted by Karen Gartshore. Goal scorers for Ont. Concrete were Alicia Pollock (2), and D. Beauchamp. Picking up assists were N. Beauchamp (3), D. Beauchamp (2), and Pollock. Heading into the third period tied at four, Country Way was not going to be defeated scoring twice more. Goals were scored by Storozuk who picked up the hat trick and Liisa McMillan. Picking up the lone assist was Jansa.

White Oak Paint – 2 vs. Sports Gold – 1

White Oak has been gaining some ground in the standings as of late with a tie and now a win. Both teams started the game off strong each scoring a goal in the first period. Scoring for White Oak was Debbie Johnston, assisted by Doreen Shaw. Sports Gold's goal was scored by Marisa Pecile, unassisted. The action continued in the second and third periods, as White Oak's goalie Amanda Luther came up with some critical saves to help her team to victory. White Oak scored the winning goal in the second period, as Shaw was able to beat Sports Gold's Teri Bonnell. Assisting on Shaw's goal was Johnston, and Linda Benedek.

Source for Sports -1 vs. Lafarge – 2

At 10:11 in the first period, Jenn Blahey scored for Lafarge giving them an early lead, and the team a boost of confidence. Assisting on Blahey's goal was Wendy MacDonald. Lafarge was able to keep the lead going into the third period, when Suzanne Dunn scored to put Lafarge up 2-0. Picking up assists were MacDonald and Lisa Rowlinson. Source for Sports was not about give up, as they were pressuring pickup goalie Melissa Holder. With the game winding down, Source's determination paid off, as Stacy Boville was able to score putting them within one with just over five minutes remaining in the game. Assisting on Boville's goal was Debbie Shubat, but it was a little too late for Source.
