Women's Hockey League report

Results from week four in the Women's Hockey League:

Algoma Ins. – 1 vs. Sports Gold – 1

What proved to be the start of a great night, Algoma Ins. and Sports Gold, battled back and forth, with both teams having many opportunities to take the lead through the game. Scoring first was Algoma Ins. in the first period, when Denise Goldade put one passed Teri Bonnell. Picking up an assist on the play was Wendy Basawa. Undefeated Sports Gold came back in the second period getting one of their own, when Marisa Pecile put the puck Joey Montgomery. Assisting on the play was Jean Feagan and Jessica Lannigan.

Country Way – 3 vs. Skip's Kweok – 2

Skip's came out quick in the first period scoring both of their goals to set the tone early. Scoring for Skip's was Mona Jones and Leslie Bois. Picking up assists were Leah-Anne Pine, Penny Souliere and goalie Karen Armstrong. Country Way answered back near the end of the first period scoring one of their three. Patti Storozuk picked up the goal, while Liisa McMillan picked up the assist. Continuing where they left off, Country Way scored one goal in second period, by Karen Jansa, assisted by McMillan and Donna May Sayers. Country Way scored their winning goal early in the third period, when Storozuk picked up her second goal of the game, while Diane Peitrakowski and Karen Gartshore picked up an assist each.

Crawford's – 0 vs. Source For Sports – 1

Source went into the game having tied all three of their previous games. The only goal of the game came from Patti Lutz in the first period, with 4:12 left. Heidi Haldemann picked up the assist. This gave Source their first win of the season, and Sherri Collins, her first shutout.

White Oak - 0 vs. Thessalon – 5
