The playoff race continues to heat up with three more games played in Desbarats on Tuesday night.

It's now official that BDO Dunwoody, Sports Gold, Source for Sports and Skip's Kweok will play for the 'A' division playoff championship; however, final standings from first to fourth still need to be determined.

Skip's and Source each have two games remaining while BDO and Sports Gold have three games left.

Algoma Insurance, Crawford's Canines, White Oak Paint, B&J Trucking and Lafarge are fighting for the next four playoff spots reserved for the 'B' championship.

All five teams have a mathematical chance of finishing anywhere from fifth to ninth. A ninth place finish puts them out of the playoffs.

Not to be outdone, Ontario Concrete and Country Way continue to battle it out in the basement. It's anybody's guess as to who will earn this year's "Cellar Dwellers" title with both teams pulling off surprise wins this year to make things interesting – no such thing as a pressure game when you're the underdogs!

*** GAME RESULTS: Country Way – 3 Lafarge – 2

In what was described as their best game of the year, Country Way pulled off a 3-2 win over Lafarge. The Granolas scored a goal in all three periods and led 3-1 early in the third. Trish Evans scored twice and set up Christina Nogalo for the winner. Nogalo's first career goal was a sweet one for the WHL newbee. Her shot from the blue line had eyes for the net, eluding everyone, including Lafarge goaltender Nancy Dewling. Shelli Ubriaco scored five minutes later to bring Lafarge within one but Country Way's defence was unbeatable to the final buzzer. Sherry "Boom Boom" Boston and Debbie Shubat each had an assist for Country Way. Patti Storozuk had Lafarge's other goal with assists from Trish Secondi and Lori Ballstadt. The win gives Country Way an identical record to Ontario Concrete with 3 wins and 2 ties. In a game played last week against each other, the two teams tussled to a 3-3 tie. This battle looks destined to continue right to the bitter end, folks. Stay tuned.

Skip's Kweok – 2 BDO Dunwoody – 1

Skip's Kweok tip-toed closer to third place with a 2-1 squeaker over BDO. After falling behind 1-0 early in the game, Kweok's Leah-Anne Pine evened the score with 6:15 left in the opening period. Sue Sherrard put Skip's up 2-1 in the dying minutes of the second frame. Neither team gave up a goal in third. Elaine Angelic had two assists while Mona Jones earned an assist on Sherrard's winner. Wendy Basawa scored BDO's only goal, unassisted.

Sports Gold – 3 Source for Sports – 0

Sports Gold moved to just one point back of first place with a 3-0 shut out win over Source for Sports. Brianne Greco had a goal and one assist while Penny Souliere and Katie Healey each scored once. Souliere's marker turned out to be the winner. Ellen Ford had two assists and Lisa Pauloff pitched in with one assist. The shut out for Teri Bonnell was her fifth of the season. Sports Gold has three games left to try and wrestle away first place from BDO Dunwoody. This nail-biter also looks destined to continue until the final night of the schedule. Once again folks, stay tuned.
