Five games were played in the WHL on Sunday. Lafarge, Sports Gold, The Eleventh Team, Skip’s Kweok and Algoma Insurance each picked up wins.

In off-ice news, The Eleventh Team has secured a team sponsor. BDO Dunwoody will become the league’s newest team sponsor with new jerseys expected to arrive before Christmas.

*** GAME RESULTS:

Lafarge – 4 Crawford’s Canines – 1

Sarah Fischer had two goals and Patti Storozuk and Rhonda Crozier each scored once to lead Lafarge past Crawford’s 4-1. Storozuk also picked up two assists along with Trish Secondi while Crozier and Alicia Pollock had one assist each. Laurie Masters had the Canines only goal. Robyn Bourck had one assist.

Sports Gold – 6 White Oak Paint – 3

After starting the season with two ties, White Oak Paint dropped a 6-3 decision to Sports Gold. Newbee Katie Healy scored a natural hattrick for Sports Gold while Penny Souliere, Jean Feagan and Kathy Pinkse each scored once. Brianne Greco (another WHL newbee) had three assists and Lori Swan earned one assist. White Oak’s Debbie Beauchamp had two goals and Lisa Case had one. Chris Elliott and Karen Bell each picked up one assist.

The Eleventh Team (BDO Dunwoody) – 3 Source for Sports – 2

Wendy Basawa’s two goals and one assist helped BDO Dunwoody squeak past Source for Sports 3-2 in a feisty, tight-checking contest. Basawa scored the tying goal with 5:17 remaining in the third period and then netted the winner with only 13 seconds left to play. Jen Blahey had one assist for BDO. Lisa Venier scored both Source for Sports goals while Elaine Derosario had the lone assist.

Skip’s Kweok – 10 Ontario Concrete – 2

Skip’s extended their winning streak to three games with a 10-2 win over Ontario Concrete. Sue Chiblow and pick up player, Andrea Jarzombek, each scored a hattrick. Mona Jones had two goals and one assist while Sue Sherrard had a goal and an assist. Chiblow and pick up player, Penny Souliere, had one assist each. Geri Miller scored both Concrete goals with a single assist going to Kathleen McLean.

Algoma Insurance – 7 Country Way – 0

Nancy Houle and Deb Johnson were on fire for Algoma Insurance each picking up four points in a 7-0 win against Country Way. Houle scored twice and added two assists while Johnson had a goal and three assists. Theresa Glover and Debbie “Digger” Desgagne each scored once and added one assist while single goals went to Doreen Shaw and Tanya Thompson. Penny Glover earned one assist.

League action continues next Sunday, December 4th at McMeeken “Auditorium” with games beginning at 4pm and ending at 9pm.
