After sustaining damage to his traditional No. 67 car earlier in the week, George Wilson again proved that he can be successful behind the wheel of most Late Model cars at Laird International Raceway.

Sitting behind the wheel of a car normally driven by Nick Guerriero at Kinross Speedway, Wilson took home a pair of heat victories as well as the feature race. All this was done behind the wheel of a new car.

Wilson also posted a third place finish behind Rod Bolduc and Cory Fur key in the Fast Car Dash. Bolduc managed second place finishes in all three of Wilson’s victories on the night. Wilson opened up a lead on Bolduc as soon as he took over top spot near the midway point of the race. After opening up a sizeable lead over Bolduc it was smooth sailing from there. Rick Leonard, who finished third in the first heat race, finished in third.

In the Modified Division, it was not meant to be for Kevin Oiled and Jordan Sims as the division’s point’s leaders had a rough night in the feature race. Both managed to win a heat race each, but during the feature, neither gained any ground as both drivers were knocked out of the race due to car trouble. With Oicle and Sims out of the running, Nick Jobst stepped up and took the feature win.

In the Factory Stock Division, it was back to business for Steve Kent after taking last week off to go on a fishing trip. Kent managed a second-place finish in the first heat race, finishing just behind Nate Gallagher. Kent then proceeded to take home the checkered flag on the second heat as well as the feature, a race he won by a considerable margin.

Finally, in the Stock Four Division, Cody McLean had a big night with a pair of victories. McLean opened the night for the Stock Four division with a heat race in and followed it up with a strong performance in the feature. That strong performance earned the Sault native with a win in the feature. Dave King earned the other heat race victory.

Of note, racing action on Thursday night finished in quick time with the racing action being completed prior to 10 p.m, which translates into one of the quickest nights of the season.

Action was scheduled to continue on Saturday as LIR held their annual Summer Extravaganza, but imminent rain in the forecast has put that on hold as on Friday Laird officials announced that the event has been postponed. A new date has not been announced. More information on the other events going on throughout the day can be found on the official LIR website at www.lairdraceway.com.
