The Sault Wildcats Midget AA squad split two games on the weekend against North Bay. The Wildcats shut out North Bay 4-0 in their first meeting but were handed a 3-2 loss in the second game of the series.

The Sault Wildcats Midget AA squad split two games on the weekend against North Bay.

The Wildcats shut out North Bay 4-0 in their first meeting but were handed a 3-2 loss in the second game of the series.

The first game saw two periods of end to end scoreless hockey and sound goaltending before the Wildcats racked up four unanswered goals in their first win of the season.

Megan Dubas scored twice and Ashley Bradley had three assists in the game. Coco Mancuso scored a power play goal and rookie Andrea Brunetta had the winner less than a minute into the third frame.

Single assists went to Deralise Mills and rookie Jenna Buck. Dana Desaulnier had the shut out.

In the Wildcats 3-2 loss, North Bay turned in a solid performance firing 28 shots at Sault goalie Stephanie Graham including 14 in the first period.

Penalties were costly for the Wildcats as they killed off nine but gave up two power play goals.

Brunetta and Bradley scored for Sault Ste Marie with assists going to Mancuso, Dubas and rookie Kayla Leishman.

The Wildcats will continue to prepare for their first tournament of the season October 14-16 in Toronto.
