The Midget AA Sault Wildcats dropped two games and tied one at the Durham Lightning tournament on the weekend.

The Wildcats opened the tournament with a 2-2 tie against Peterborough. It was a heart-breaker for the Wildcats as they watched a 2-1 lead slip through their fingers in the dying seconds of the game.

With Peterborough’s goalie pulled for the extra attacker, a desperate whack at a loose puck found the back of the Wildcats’ net with just 37 seconds remaining.

Julia Sayers led the Wildcats attack scoring once and adding one assist. Rookie Kayla Leishman had the other Wildcats goal while Megan Dubas and Jenna Buck had one assist each.

Offensive chances were few and far between for the Sault squad in their next two games as they were shut out 5-0 by St. Thomas and 3-0 by Nepean.

Next tournament action for the Midget Wildcats is in Sault Ste Marie November 4-6 at the 9th annual Ice Breaker Cup.
