On Wednesday April 12, 2006 the Sault Female Hockey Association held the year-end banquet for the Wildcats program.

Forty-seven Wildcats from the Pee Wee B, Bantam BB and Midget AA teams were honored for their accomplishments for the 2005-2006 hockey season.

President John Veale acknowledged the sponsors who without their support the league would not exist. They were the Midget AA Team Mid Canada Construction, the Bantam BB Team Algoma Office Equipment and Servicemaster and for the Pee Wee Team National Supply and Maratech Aviation Services

The accomplishments by the 3 Wildcat teams for the 2005/2006 season were many as they brought home to the Soo, 9 Gold Medal Wins, 4 Silver Medal Wins, and 2 Bronze Medals as well as the Gold Medal and Bronze Medal Provincial Championships.

There are seven players that are graduating from the Wildcats this year. Defence partners, Meagan Seabrook and Cassandra Bin, along with forwards Coco Mancuso, Robin Koskela, Ashley Bradley, Julia Sayers and Megan Dubas all played their final Midget games at the Provincials this past weekend.

Meagan Seabrook, Casandra Bin and Robin Koskela will likely stay in the Sault area. Coco Mancuso is off to the University of New Brunswick next season. Ashley Bradley and Julia Sayers will be in Sudbury. Ashley Bradley will be attending Laurentien University and Julia Sayers will be attending Cambrian College. Both of them are expected to play on Sudbury Club teams, as Sudbury does not have a varsity team.

Megan Dubas has been accepted at Humber, Guelph and Windsor University. She will likely attend Windsor where she hopes to earn a spot on the varsity squad. Good luck to all the graduates from the program.

Zolton "Toots" Kovacs, head coach of the Soo Thunderbirds was the guest speaker for the banquet and brought an excellent message to the players.

Each year the SFHA presents an award to a volunteer who has contributed a vast amount of effort and time to enhance the Sault Female Hockey Association. This year the Association presented the SFHA Volunteer Award to Mark Chojnowski. Mark was presented the award for his outstanding effort and time spent with the SFHA this year.

Randy Kirk presented the Esso Medal awards for the association awarded to the Most Dedicated, Most Improved, and Most Sportsmanlike player.

The Bantam Team

The Most Dedicated - Katie Komsa The Most Improved - Emily Potvin The Most Sportsmanlike - Jessica D'Angelo

The Midget Team

The Most Dedicated - Robin Koskela The Most Improved - Jenna Buck The Most Sportsmanlike - Coco Mancuso

In addition to the Esso Awards the Association also gave out additional awards for Coach of the year, Individual awards for teammate of the year, and an Association award for Wildcat of the year. These awards are also selected by the players of each of the teams.

This years recipients of these awards are:

Midget Team Mate Of The Year - Julia Sayers Bantam Teammate of the year - Shannon MacInnis Pee Wee Teammate Of The Year, a tie, - Riley Jo Linklater and Kelsey Burton

Coach Of The Year as selected by the Wildcats - Tim Burton

Wildcat Of The Year - Jessica Fabbro.

* The SFHA General membership meeting is next week at the Rhodes on April 19 upstairs at 7PM and all members are welcome.
