White Pines captures boys high school curling title

The White Pines boys curling team of skip Brett Punkari, vice Brendan Hodgson, second Nick Katajamaki and lead Ben Morphet captured the 2006-2007 City High School playoff title on Wednesday with a 9-6 victory over Notre Dame des Grand Lacs.

The White Pines boys curling team of skip Brett Punkari, vice Brendan Hodgson, second Nick Katajamaki and lead Ben Morphet captured the 2006-2007 City High School playoff title on Wednesday with a 9-6 victory over Notre Dame des Grand Lacs.

The Punkari rink also won the City High School regular season league championship, losing only 2 games all season.

Both White Pines and Notre Dame des Grand Lacs will now be headed to North Bay for the NOSSA curling championship on March 5th and 6th.

The girls championship was to be determined on Thursday, at Soo Curlers at 3 p.m with Korah taking on St. Mary's.
