U-18 Thunder Civics fall in College Showcase final (Updated)

In Game One of the 7th Annual College Showcase Soccer Tournament on Saturday in Woodbridge, the Sault Thunder Under 18 Civics struck early against the Woodbridge Strikers to go ahead 1-0 on a corner kick goal by Danielle Seaton.

In Game One of the 7th Annual College Showcase Soccer Tournament on Saturday in Woodbridge, the Sault Thunder Under 18 Civics struck early against the Woodbridge Strikers to go ahead 1-0 on a corner kick goal by Danielle Seaton.

Then into the 15th minute Seaton scored again on a corner.Katie Larue scored twice afterwards to seal the 4-0 victory for the Sault side. Erica Aceti provided the shutout effort for the Civics.

The second match saw the same score in favour of the Sault entry. Meghan Brasil and Erica Aceti shared the shut out. Kelly Pelletier and Kirstie Mancuso provided the first two goals. Kira Favaro tallied the third goal on a nice feed from Daniel Seaton. Seaton rounded out the Sault scoring with a goal on the 47th minute of the game.

On Sunday, The Thunder met Newmarket squad at the Ontario Soccer Association fields. A goal by Danielle Seaton at the 18th minute stood as the winner as Erica Aceti again supplied the shutout for the Thunder. The victory sealed a final game berth for the girls.

On a cold,windy rain soaked field, in the final game of round robin play, the Civics dropped a 5-1 loss to Toronto Portugal. Abby Didonato scored the lone Sault goal.

In the final game on Monday against Barrie, Coco Mancuso tied the score near the end of the first half. Barrie clinched the title 2-1, with a goal with less than four minutes left in the second half.
