U-17 Civics capture title in St. Thomas

The Sault Scotia Thunder U17 Girls Civics team were triumphant once again this past Canada Day weekend securing the championship title for the second year in a row at the 31st Annual Soccerfest in St. Thomas, Ontario.

The Sault Scotia Thunder U17 Girls Civics team were triumphant once again this past Canada Day weekend securing the championship title for the second year in a row at the 31st Annual Soccerfest in St. Thomas, Ontario.

The Civic Girls U-17 team won the title with a 1-0 final over the Windsor Valiants with Jess D'Angelo scoring while Shannon Delarosbil added the shutout.

Keeper Delarosbil also posted two other shutouts in preliminary games.

In preliminary play. the Sault Scotia Thunder beat St. Thomas 5-0 with goals from Stevie Reville (3), Jess D'Angelo and Meri-Beth Manuel.

In an earlier game against the Windsor Valiants, Sault Scotia Thunder recorded a 2-1 win with goals from Stevie Reville and Jess D'Angelo. In a 3-0 win over Windsor Caboto, Amanda Kubik, Tina Vagnini and Chanelle Chomniak scored for the Sault Scotia Thunder.

Coaches Rob Vagnini and Joe Ceglie are pleased with their team's performance and are preparing their team for the upcoming Ontario Cup games to be played in Sault Ste. Marie the July 14-15th weekend.
